Production Blog: Editing
Hey everyone! I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog. This time I'll be discussing the editing process of this commercial. When we had just finished filming, I was at first eager to edit it. Since I have an interest in filmmaking, I know that editing is and essential skill. Originally I had suggested that each of us edit it on our own and we compare them. After this we would either choose the best one, or include aspects of all of them. Ultimately, my teammates decided that we were better off all working together to make one video. Unfortunately, after my teammates had decided when they would edit, I learned that I wouldn't be able to make it. Last minute, my parents told me that I had to attend the 60th wedding anniversary of some family members. While my teammates went to Rhys' house, I had dinner with my family. While I was at dinner Rhys ended up being the one to do most of the editing. We had decided beforehand that this was the best choice because Rhys has editing experience. The first thing Rhys did was download the clips from the SD card in the camera. After this, he organized and ordered the clips chronologically. Rhys also cut the clips until he could find the perfect amount of time, exactly 30 seconds. Once everything was assembled they made the finishing touches. First Rhys changed the color of the clip to make it more cinematic, then Daniel recorded voice over that Rhys added in. All of this was done with DaVinci Resolve 17. Next time I hope to be a bigger part of the editing process than I was able to here.
