Production Blog: Finally Filming

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.  After a long wait, finally, we were able to film. It felt good filming again after so long. It can often be pretty boring doing the more tedious preparation tasks. Luckily, during the time we were able to film, things went smoothly. We were able to film at our original intended location, Daniel's house. Before than, of course, one of had to go to BurgerFi to get food. We started with the preliminary shots where we will be able to add titles. We went off our storyboard for reference. It was tough finding something random enough to talk about, while still seeming like a normal conversation. Before filming this, we realized we had a small problem. Aiden had forgotten to bring a black T-Shirt. This wasn't too important, especially since we probably weren't even going to put a title on him. Either way, just in case, we decided we should get him one. Aiden was able to borrow one of Daniel's shirts from when he was you...

Production Blog: Further Delays

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.  Spring break has just passed. we all had fun and were able to relax. Daniel, went to Colorado, and I was in Ecuador. Meanwhile, Rhys stayed in Florida and hung out with his friends. Despite this, we're already worried again. As I feared, our deadline is fast approaching. We just got back so we still haven't had the opportunity to film. Fortunately, there are some more things we can do in preparation. First off, we checked each others schedules to plan ahead. Rhys and Daniel will both busy Tuesday. This works out well for me, because, it seems like I'll have a lot of homework to do. We ultimately decided on the soonest date we could all film, Wednesday the 29th. We also decided to find and prepare all of our props. Rhys searched through his house to find his skateboard. He also got his camera ready to film. Meanwhile, we all found the clothes we would need for the day. We all need to wear blank shirts on the day. Thi...

Production Blogs: Final Preparation and Checks

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.  Approaching spring break, we still don't have time to do any filming. We were, however, able to make ourselves even more prepared. Daniel suggested that we look for a good street without street lights to film on. I'm glad Daniel brought this up, because it reminded me of a big issue. Back in our planning blog, Daniel said the same thing. That was when I realized that Daniel thought we would be filming at night. I remembered distinctly that we decided to film during the day. This was even a big part of the conventions, as it was a convention we were going against. It wasn't until Rhys agreed with me, that Daniel remembered this. It could have been a big issue if we continued with this misunderstanding. Once we all got to Daniel's neighborhood, we went around looking for locations. I knew we needed a street with a thick tree or something similar. This would be to hide the cut where the character disappears. We als...

Production Blog: Delays and Set-Backs

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.  The past few weeks have been nothing but delays. What frustrates me is that some of these delays could have been avoided. A major part of these delays is procrastination. Since we've started this project, we've been idly blogging our progress. What's more, the progress we're making, has been far too slow and lazy. If we had initiative, we could have been long past the planning stage, and already been filming. Unfortunately, we did not. Now, I've realized that we won't be able to get anything done for the rest of the week leading up to spring break. With the end of the school quarter drawing near, our work load somehow seems to continue growing. Right now, I've been busy with a massive chemistry project, which, coincidentally, I procrastinated on until now. From what I've heard, Rhys and Daniel have similar issues in their own classes. I know for certain that Daniel has a lot of English homework t...

Production Blog: Getting Ready to Film

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.   This is what me and my group did to finish planning and prepare to film. The first thing we had to do was create a storyboard and a script. Both of these create a chronological plan for our filming. The script provides a more detailed and in depth explanation of the story for the title sequence. Meanwhile the storyboard provides a visual representation of this story. I was the one to do both the script and storyboard for my group. I was a little disappointed, as this was, in my opinion, more difficult than what the other two did. Despite this, I was alright with the situation. My main priority was making sure we did quality work. Rhys was the one to do the title design blog, while Daniel explained our filming location, participants, health, and schedule. The title design blog mainly consisted of choosing a font and style for our titles, which I told Rhys to do. I decided on this because Rhys often does things better hands-on, ...

Production Blog: Initial Stages of Planning

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.   This is what me and my group did to start our planning. As usual the very first thing we did was talk about ourselves and our group in our first two blogs. This remained mostly the same, as we are working in almost the same group as before. Following this, we had to decide on a pitch for our movie. I don't quite remember which one it was, but either Rhys or Daniel came up with the idea that we decided on. I liked the idea, though I will admit, I was skeptical. I was very unsure about whether Rhys would have the editing skills necessary to somehow make someone disappear from a skateboard. Despite this, Rhys reassured me that he could do it. I had also come up with a secondary idea that was, admittedly, pretty outlandish. We all thought it was a cool idea, but I realized it would be completely implausible. Daniel actually liked the idea so much, that he argued that we should use it. Fortunately, I quickly brought up our lack...

Planning Blog: Storyboard

Image
I'm Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to my blog.   This is my group's storyboard. #1: Starts with a blurred shot of friends eating together. #2: Comes into focus on a box with the first title. #3: Camera passes the box, now shows the friends in focus. #4: Camera passes by a chair with the next title on the back. #5: Character 1 gets up and walks away from the table. #6: Camera centers on the back of his shirt with another tile. #7: Camera moves over character 1's shoulder. #8: Zoom in on his plate, showing another title. #9: Camera turns and zooms in on a computer with another tile on it. #10: Camera moves along the counter until it reaches the sink, now shows the movie tile. #11: Sponge wipes the tile off, revealing another. #12: Character hears a noise, turns, revealing a title on the door. #13: Character 1 return, says he is leaving, another friend also says he's leaving. #14: Both say bye to the other friends. #15: Camera turns toward the door, showing anoth...
