Planning and Preparation Production Blog
Hey everyone! I’m Luc-Luis Manosalvas, and welcome back to
my blog. Our planning and preparation for filming started shortly after we
learned what this project was about. I was involved in our group’s planning and
preparation. During our planning, the three of us gave input on what to do for our
commercial. Ultimately, I agreed with Rhys on his idea to do a boxing
commercial. Despite this the three of us were in disagreement on where we would
film. Rhys wanted to film in an abandoned building near his house, but I argued
that this was a bad idea. Rhys convinced me to at least check it out, so after
school on a Friday, the two of us biked to the place he was suggesting. When we
arrived, the place was under construction, so Rhys conceded that it wasn’t a good
idea to film there. Ultimately, I suggested that we film at a park, and the
other two agreed. The next phase in planning and preparation was deciding what
props and costumes we would need. For props we decided that aside from the
Prime Hydration bottle, we needed boxing gloves a large boxing shield. We couldn’t
get a boxing shield, so ultimately, we settled with two pads. The costumes we decided
to use were regular sports attire. This included a t-shirt and athletic shorts.
After this, I drew our storyboard which was a simple outline of the techniques we
would use when filming. This included pans, zooms, a high angle, a POV shot, a
close up, and several others. The final phase of the planning and preparation
process was assigning rolls. We decided that I would be the director for the
commercial, while Rhys films, and Daniel acts. We also asked for the help of
Rhys’s friend Esteban as another actor.
